2 months in...

Hi again! Sorry it's been so long since my last post, things have been a bit crazy here. I didn't want to post before now because I've had such a hard time and I really wasn't liking it here much at all. I didn't want my next post to be all negative so I waited a bit and I'm glad I did because things are now looking up :)

I have started to like it here. I still like my class and I enjoy teaching here and I have started to teach science to the Grade 6 class who are 11-12 years old. They are very lively and lovely. I've had a lot of fun with them so far but have had to start off more strict and hope to be able to let up a bit soon.

I had a lovely half term last week as I was able to travel up to Sipi Falls in Eastern Uganda. It is such a beautiful place and I loved it there! It was right up in the mountains and was so lush and green. I stayed at Sipi River Lodge which was on the bank of a waterfall and my banda, a round traditional style cottage, was right on the bank. I could hear the waterfall all night and it was such a beautiful view to open the door to in the morning. Also it was so high up that there were NO mosquitos! Bonus!

On the journey up to Sipi Falls I stayed at a baby orphanage in Jinja and was able to hold, feed and play with some gorgeous babies!

This is Jackie, my namesake :) She was born with HIV.
I was able to pray for her and other sick babies, one with TB and others with various types of traumatic pasts as I cuddled them.

This is Wycliffe. His mum died with him in her arms. For the first few months he wouldn't stop crying but he is a lot more secure and happy now. One of the babies at the centre, who I held and prayed for was only 2 months old. She was left in her own afterbirth for the first 3 weeks of her life and wasn't cared for. When the centre saved her she absolutely stank. Poor little baby! I just can't believe some of the things that happen to them :( Praise God for people who are willing to come and help and take them out of the difficult situations and show them love!

I have to go now, but I promise I will write more soon.

Love Jackie

Please pray for me to really be able to help people and children over here.

Please pray that God will give me a car.
